Dr. Chaturvedi earned her Bachelor’s from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in India and her Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park in 2016. She then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Pennsylvania and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining UNC, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of California in Santa Cruz.

Dr. Chaturvedi’s research focusses on Natural Language Processing, which is a field that designs algorithms that help computers process and understand text. She is especially excited about developing methods for narrative-like language understanding and generation.

Before joining UNC as an assistant professor (Jan 2021), Dr. Stanley completed a postdoc at Stanford (2018-2021) in computational immunology. Prior to this, she earned her PhD here at UNC (2018)! Her lab (CompCy Lab at UNC!) focuses on developing bioinformatics algorithms for understanding single-cell data generated from technologies, such as, flow and mass cytometry. She is interested in extracting signals from these datasets that give insight into the particular cell populations implicated in certain diseases. Her methods are rooted in numerical linear algebra and graph signal processing.
