Along with WOWS, UNC-Chapel Hill has a plethora of other centers and programs dedicated to women’s success and equality. Below is a list of various organizations that the university offers that you may want to consider if WOWS interests you.

Female Focus Programs

• Carolina Women’s Center: center promoting gender equity, intersectionality, and spreading awareness of gender-based issues and their possible solutions; specific services and programs can be found on their website

Women in STEM

• Women and Science Program: initiative dedicated to advancing women’s involvement and support within the fields of math and science
• Women in Science (WinS): program promoting the equality and success of women in science
• Association for Professional Women in Medical Science (APWIMS): organization advocating for gender equity, support, and awareness within professional settings for women in STEM

Faculty Training Programs

• Targeting Equity in Access to Mentoring (TEAM) ADVANCE: initiative promoting mentoring, intersectionality, and career and achievement development for UNC faculty members with several ongoing programs
  • brief workshops and modules for UNC leaders to develop healthy mentoring programs (more information found here)
  • TEAM ADVANCE Faculty Mentor Training: training for faculty members to refine their mentoring skills
  • Women ADVANCE Leadership: workshops, activities, and discussions for mid-career women faculty members to improve their skills and discover new ways to advance in their fields
  • TEAM ADVANCE Peer Mentoring Circles: program for early-career faculty members at UNC to network, gain support, and advance their career goals

Research Support

• Center for Women’s Health Research: center dedicated to discovering more about illnesses that affect women in various capacities

Student Organizations

• UNC Advocates for Inclusion in Medicine and Science (AIMS): student-led organization dedicated to the success, recognition, and prosperity of women and minorities in science
• Carolina Advocates for Gender Equity: organization promoting conversation, advocacy, and social justice regarding gender identity, gender roles, and expression

• Feminist Students United: student-led organization advocating for equality, intersectionality, a supportive environment, and the destruction of all forms of oppression

Child Care

• Child Care Services Association: provides free child care access to employees, full-time students, or a combination of the two at the university
